ABOUT ABOUT

Would you consider your business Forces Friendly? What would others outside of the business think? Why is it important?

The Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) allows your business to demonstrate support for the Armed Forces Community in a single document. With over 7,000 signatories from Businesses, Charities, Communities and Local Authorities across the UK, the AFC contributes real value to a business. For example:

  • Forces friendly employers benefit from the wide range of unique skills and experiences that reservists and veterans bring to an organisation.
  • Employing armed forces community members can help diversify the talent in your workforce
  • The Armed Forces Community is a great customer base
  • The AFC will help align your CSR objectives to defence
  • It can help position the business for Local Authority and MOD contracts and help form the foundation for a partnership with Defence
  • It provides a great opportunity to network with other Forces Friendly employers at a number of local engagement events every year

Attendees will learn about the role of our Armed forces reserves ad how there skills and qualifications can be transferred into your business.

Signing the covenant also means that you are supporting your employees who choose to serve the nation as Reservists, who currently represent 18.5% of the operational capability of the UK Armed Forces.

During this workshop you will hear from Captain Andy Johnstone about the role of the Army reserves 159 Regiment, a reserves themselves and there experience of working full time and being a valued reservist. You will better understand the process of employing reservists and also learn about the Employer Recognition Scheme, which publicly recognises employers’ efforts to support Defence and the Armed Forces Community.
